Community races: where the list comes from and how to add one

The shared race catalogue is fed by races other athletes have shared and events collected from public race listings, all reviewed before they appear. Here is how to add your own.

The race list you can browse in IntervalCoach is a shared catalogue of real events. Here is where it comes from, and how to add a race to it yourself.

Where the community race list comes from

Two things feed it:

  • Races shared by other athletes. When someone adds a race to their calendar, they can choose to share it publicly. That entry goes into the shared catalogue so other people can find it.
  • Events collected from public race listings. I also pull in events from public race calendars, so the list is not limited to what users have manually added.

Everything is reviewed before it appears. A shared race starts as pending and only becomes visible once it has been checked, which keeps duplicates and junk entries out of the list.

How do I add a race to the list?

You share a race at the moment you add it, using the Share publicly switch in the add-race form:

  1. On the Calendar page, open + Add and choose Create your own.
  2. Fill in the race name, date, sport and priority.
  3. Turn on Share publicly before you save.
  4. If you have it, add the official event or registration link, and attach the course as a GPX or FIT file. Both help the review and make the entry more useful for everyone else.

Once it passes review, other athletes will see it in the race catalogue.

Can I share a race that is already in my calendar?

Yes. Open the race, edit it, and use Share with the community. The race is submitted with what is in the form at that moment, including its course if one is attached, and goes through the same review.

Note that only races you mark as your A or B priority are picked up automatically from calendars. A C-priority race has to be shared deliberately.

Sharing the race course

If the race has a GPX or FIT course attached, the course is shared with it. After review, the public race page shows the elevation profile, the sustained climbs and a Download GPX link, and anyone who adds the race to their calendar gets the course too. If the race was already in the catalog without a course, yours is added to it. See Race Recon: attach your race course.

How do I use a race someone else shared?

Browse the race catalogue when you are setting a goal, pick the event, and it gets added to your own calendar. From there you can set it as your A, B or C race, and your plan will build phases and a taper toward it.
